County Home the Topic of a Critical Discussion

County Home the Topic of a Critical Discussion
JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — A panel of county legislators held a public meeting to talk about possible sale of the Chautauqua County Home Monday evening. It's part of on ongoing critical discussion series being hosted by the Jamestown Prendergast Library.

Two issues were brought up: whether the county-owned skilled nursing facility should be sold, and if it should it be sold to Avi Rothner, the lone bidder.

"I think there was a lot of good points brought out on both sides, I really do. It's to the point now, is this really the bidder that you want to turn over this facility that has been here so long? I think a lot more questions should be asked," said David Fagerstrom, CSEA Unit 6300 President.

"I think we need to be very careful and maybe we need to do some more research and maybe we need to scramble and find another buyer but it had better happen yesterday," said Mary Ann Harp, Chaut. Co. resident.

The county legislature may make a decision on the future of the Home as soon as February.
