Drug possession charge against teacher dropped
BUFFALO, N.Y. — Internal Affairs is launching an investigation into how police handled the search and arrest of an East Aurora teacher.
Ryan Ellis, 36, was pulled over by Buffalo police on the city’s east side in December. Police say he had crack cocaine on him.
The Erie County District Attorney's Office tells us a drug possession charge against him has since been dropped in Buffalo City Court.
It's not clear what exactly police are investigating.
Ellis has been with the district since 2003. During his time as a teacher, the District Attorney’s office says he's had two DWI arrests; one in 2006 which included losing his license, and another in 2009.
