RIPLEY, N.Y. — The Ripley Central School district will move forward with tuitioning 7th through 12th graders to another district after voters approved the proposition Tuesday.

By vote of 282 to 262, voters allowed the board to negotiate tuition costs with a neighboring school distict.

It will most likely be Chautauqua Lake, because Ripley already has six freshmen in a sucessful PILOT tuition program with them.

Ripley officials say the district was facing serious budget cuts to non-essential programs.

"I know that it seems like the focus is always on money, money, money, but really we need to focus on what can we do to bring more opportunity for our kids and keep our programs as vibrant as they can be to prepare them the best way that we can for the future," said
Karen Krause, Ripley Central School Superintendent.

Krause says the board will make sure all 130 students will go to the same school.
