BUFFALO, N.Y. — Members of the Erie County Correctional Advisory Board met Tuesday to discuss the new way in which inmate telephone funds will be used.

Previously, the telephone funds were controlled by the Erie County Sheriff's Office.

The Advisory Board was unhappy with the way the money was spent by the Sheriff's Office with no regulations on how it was to be used and for what purpose.

That is no longer the case. The funds will now be controlled and monitored more efficiently.

"All moneys will be spent as a result of a resolution from the legislature and not a person with a personal checking account spending it like he wants to," said Eugene Pierce of the Erie County Correctional Advisory Board.

Other topics that were discussed during the meeting include inmate classification and adult G.E.D. programs.
