JAMESTOWN, N.Y. — The Chautauqua County Humane Society is set to kick off the 8th Annual Pennies 4 Paws fundraiser Tuesday with a goal of 1.7 million pennies or $17,000.

Many area businesses are supporting the Humane Society with donation jars and they are also selling paw prints for a dollar each.

Some local groups do their own fundraising and donate it to help the animals.

"All the proceeds will go directly to cover our basic medical costs for the pets at the shelter, because they're skyrocketing," said Roxanne Wendling, Chautauqua County Humane Society.

You can also make a donation at the Humane Society's 2nd Chances Thrift Store across from Sam's Club in Ellicott or at the Shelter on Strunk Road.
