BUFFALO, N.Y. — Police say 33-year-old Jacqueline Wisniewski of Buffalo was shot and killed inside the David K. Miller Building, near the main hospital on the Erie County Medical Center campus, around 8:15 a.m. Wednesday.
Investigators say the shooting was not a random act of violence.
According to the Buffalo Police Department, officers are searching for 49-year-old Dr. Timothy Jorden who has been identified as a person of interest. Police say they searched the hospital for him, and places he may have fled to, such as his home in Lakeview.
Wednesday afternoon several police agencies and SWAT teams surrounded the home. National Grid technicians also shut down power to the block.
Then, around 8 pm, the scene began to break down. Authorities left without giving any new information.
Police say Jorden could be armed and dangerous. They say he might have lost weight recently and may now have facial hair.
Jorden's next door neighbor says she's "floored" police believe the doctor is involved in this incident."He was not an unstable man. He was a great neighbor, a brilliant surgeon, from all aspects you would think that he's normal. He's got a beautiful home, he puts a lot of effort into it," said Laura Blain.
On the ECMC website, Jorden is listed as a surgeon with the University at Buffalo Surgeons, which is located on the hospital campus.
YNN has confirmed that Jorden has privileges to practice at several hospitals within the Kaleida and Catholic Health Systems.
Anyone with information on his whereabouts is asked to call 911.
